School Counseling Beliefs  
The School Counseling program at Granville Middle School is based upon the belief that:

  • Every student is valuable and should be treated with dignity and respect.
  • All students will have access to high quality school counseling services provided by a full-time licensed, professional school counselor.

  • Orientation & support of new students
  • Post-secondary and career exploration
  • Resource distribution on topics such as study skills, alcohol and other drugs, depression, stress, etc.

Parent Services

  • Parent education workshops
  • Parent consultation with specific student questions or concerns
  • Academic planning
  • Response to Intervention Team (RtI)
  • Resource referrals: academic, community & mental health resources
  • Testing support, analysis, and interpretation

Referral Services
Schools Counselors 
consult with parents, guardians, colleagues, and community agencies regarding strategies to help students and families. School Counselors serve as student advocates. Referral sources are used to address concerns such as depression, anxiety, family difficulties, violence, abuse, and suicidal ideation.
