Important Changes for the 2022-2023 School Year

With the end of the 2021-22 school year upon us, we would like to share a preview of some changes to our information systems coming for the 2022-23 school year. The most significant change is a change of our Student Information System (SIS) from Progress Book to a new platform called PowerSchool. The district decided to make this change to PowerSchool due to many factors, but the most attractive factor is the platform’s ability to interact with many other of our existing software programs seamlessly, and this includes Schoology (our Learning Management System, or LMS).
Along with a change in the SIS is a change in some of the accessory applications associated with PowerSchool. These include software programs that will give families access to transportation information, lunch balances, registration, yearly forms, and fees and payment applications. Our goal with this transition to PowerSchool is to provide families access to a “one-stop shopping” format. This portal will be similar to ClassLink that students currently use. School-related applications available to families will be housed in one place with single-sign on capability – meaning, once families login to the portal, they will be automatically logged in to all of the applications within the portal until a password is changed. This is quite an undertaking from a data perspective, but we are on-track for roll out in August.
We wanted to make everyone aware that registration WILL be required for families in August prior to the start of the new school year. Detailed instructions will be communicated to all families for each application, and will include initial logins, updating email addresses, and setting passwords.

Student School Lunches for 2022-2023
The federal supplemental allowing for free lunches for all students will not return for the next school year. School lunches for GES and GIS will cost $3.00, GMS and GHS lunches will be $3.25 (all food stations). Students will also have a la carte options that may be purchased separately from the hot lunch, and are priced individually. A price list will be shared before the start of the school year.

  • K-3 Scheduling - Many factors are taken into consideration when placing students in classrooms K-3. One of these factors is input from the parents who know their children best. For parents of students entering K-3 in the fall, click here to access a survey to assist us in scheduling your child's classroom for next year.
Throughout the summer, your children have access to a number of online resources including Typing Agent, InfOhio, ST Math, Storyline Online, and Lexia Reading. All of these programs and their links can be found through your child's Class Link. For instructions to access Class Link, please click here.

  • Parents of Incoming 7thGrader- The Ohio Department of Health requires students entering 7th grade have one dose of Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) vaccine. Tdap is not given before age 11. If your child is over age 11 and has received the Tdap vaccine, please provide a record to the school nurse. ODH issued a second requirement in 2016 for incoming 7th grade students to receive one dose of Meningococcal vaccine. A second vaccination will be required prior to entry into 12thgrade. Please submit a record of the date (month-day-year) that the Tdap and the Meningococcal vaccines were given before the school year begins in August 2022.
As you may know, Licking County has seen rising numbers of students with pertussis (whooping cough). This requirement is an attempt to prevent pertussis as well as protect your child from tetanus, diphtheria and meningitis. Please do not put off fulfilling the Tdap and the Meningococcal requirements. State law requires us to exclude students after the 14th day of entering school if they do not have these immunizations. If you have questions or concerns, please contact me at 740-587-8139 or email me at [email protected]. Thank you for your help in meeting this requirement.

  • Attention Junior Parents - Immunization Requirement - The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) requires that students entering 12th grade must have two Meningococcal (MCV4) immunizations. The two (2) doses must be given at least 8 weeks apart. There are two exceptions to this law: (1) If the first dose is administered on or after the student’s 16th birthday, a second dose is not required; or (2) If the student is in 12th grade and is 15 years old or younger, only one dose is required. Please submit a record of the date (month-day-year) that the Meningococcal vaccine was given before the school year begins on August 17, 2022 and preferably before school ends this May. The shot record can be obtained from the doctor or clinic who administers the vaccine. Whether your student attends GHS or C-TEC, please return all shot records to Granville High School. Please do not put off fulfilling the Meningococcal requirement. State law requires us to prohibit students from attending school after the 14th day of entering school if they do not have this immunization. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Ann Varrasso via email at [email protected]. Thank you for your help in meeting this requirement.
