Independent Learners

Granville Middle School provides critical transitions tools to help students learn the core academic material that will enable them to be successful in high school. Middle school students also need to develop independent learning and social skills. Our goal is to help students learn to create and maintain relationships, as well as build trust to engender success. GMS integrates study skills, time management and organization skills in to their lessons. Academic Program Granville Middle School proudly participates in the Making Middle Grades Work program, a leading, research based program to improve student achievement and critical thinking. This program focuses on a rigorous and challenging academic core curriculum for all students. Staff provides the teaching and learning conditions that support continuous improvement in student achievement. Our school was recognized for literacy and science achievements by the Making Middle Grades Work program.

Most recently, GMS was one of six middle schools nationwide to receive the Pacesetter Award. All middle school students benefit from an academic core curriculum that integrates learning, challenges them and appeals to their interests.

GMS aligns curriculum to what students must know, understand and be able to do to succeed in math, science, English and social studies. Plus, we use technology as a key learning tool.
