Testing for Student with Disabilities Applying for Accommodations for ACT, PSAT, SAT, & AP Tests

For students who receive testing accommodations such as extended time and small group testing for school-based tests through an IEP or 504 plan, please consider applying for ACT, PSAT, SAT, and AP testing accommodations.

The testing agencies, ACT and College Board, will determine if a student will receive the requested accommodations. As each case is reviewed individually, it is best to apply for accommodations as early as possible!

Tip for Parents & Students: Apply as early as possible to allow time for appeals, if needed.

Applying for Accommodations for the ACT

It may take a significant period of time to hear about your accommodation request. To learn more about ACT accommodations go here.

Be sure to complete the Consent to Release Information form and return it to Bobbi Seidell in the GHS Counseling Office.

Once registration is complete:
Email Bobbi Seidell at [email protected] with the ACT ID (eight digit number with a dash in front of it) and test date for which the student is signed up.

* Students who are taking the ACT for a second time, please refer to page 3 of the ACT Extended Time National Testing handout. Follow the instructions in under the heading "If you want to test again on a national test date".

Applying for Accommodations for the PSAT, SAT, or AP Testing

1. Students and parents will complete the College Board release form at the student's first high school IEP meeting. If you have not signed the release form (or wish to verify that you have), students can pick up the release form in the GHS Counseling Office. See Mrs. Seidell for the paperwork or to verify form receipt. Mrs. Seidell can be reached at [email protected] or at 587-8160.

2. Turn in signed form to Mrs. Seidell ASAP. There is no cost to apply for accommodations. It is recommended to turn this in by end of 9th grade. Mrs. Seidell and Mrs. Koons (School Psychologist) will work together to gather paperwork and documentation to submit requests for accommodations.

3. It may take a significant period to hear about your accommodation request.

4. Once approved, accommodations will be given each time a student tests for the SAT, PSAT, or AP tests. No further applications for accommodations are necessary. When registering for the SAT online, you will need to enter the SSD # provided on your approval for accommodations letter.
