Third Quarter Honor and Merit Roll Announced

Granville High School Journalist Students Earn Awards at State Convention

Seven students from Granville High School participated in the Ohio Scholastic Media Association’s seventh statewide annual convention at Kent State University’s Franklin Hall April 4, 2014.

Granville High School's "BluePrints" newsmagazine earned an overall rating of third and received an eight-page critique to show the staff possible ways to improve in the future.

The event brought about 375 high school journalism students and their advisers for learning sessions about journalism and digital media. Newsroom and classroom pros from the Northeast Ohio area and Pennsylvania and Indiana presented more than 60 seminars to help attendees improve their publication by enhancing their multimedia, design and writing skills.

LAX for Life Game Scheduled
The Second Annual Lax for Life lacrosse game will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Granville. Proceeds from this game will be donated to the James Care for Life Foundation. Games, activities and concessions will be available. T-shirt sales for the event will begin on Wednesday, April 2 and run through April 8 during lunch periods at the high school. The cost for each shirt is $7. Free admission will be granted to anyone wearing their Lax for Life shirt. 
Competition Cheerleaders Place at State
Granville High School competition cheerleaders took home a third place finish after competing at the the OASSA State Championship Competition, Division II on Sunday, March 16, 2104. State competition was held at Bowling Green State University. Eighteen teams competed in the Division II category during the all day competition.  
Surprise Visit Brings Learning Opportunities for Students
Granville's blue and white high school band students experienced anything but a routine classroom practice on Tuesday, February 25. Imagine their reactions when director Jerod Smith stepped up to the podium and announced, "Today we have Mr.Jon Waters, director of the Ohio State University Marching and Athletics Band, here to work with us."
Smith invited Waters to help students prepare musical numbers for the March 7, 2014 Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) large group competition. Having worked with Waters previously, Smith embraced the opportunity to bring this highly-regarded, collegiate-level instructor to his classroom.
