This is an update based on the school closure information we received from the Governor.    We have been anticipating this  closure and wanted to address several consistently asked questions.  We understand that this email probably doesn’t answer all of your questions, but we wanted to provide information in manageable chunks.  Please send your additional questions to Janelle King at [email protected]We will provide additional updates.

Meet our School Counselor
Ms. Baker is in her 15th year as a school counselor, her eighth at Granville Middle School. She earned a Master of Science degree in School Counseling from the University of Dayton in 2005, and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Women's Studies from The Ohio State University in 2002. 

School Counseling Beliefs 
The School Counseling program at Granville Middle School is based upon the belief that:
  • All students can achieve success.
  • Every student is valuable and should be treated with dignity and respect.
  • All students will have access to high quality school counseling services provided by a full-time licensed, professional school counselor.
  • All students can expect that school is a safe and nurturing environment.

  • Resource referrals: academic, community & mental health resources
  • Testing support, analysis, and interpretation

Referral Services

Schools Counselors consult with parents, guardians, colleagues, and community agencies regarding strategies to help students and families. School Counselors serve as student advocates. Referral sources are used to address concerns such as depression, anxiety, family difficulties, violence, abuse, and suicidal ideation.
