GMS Weekly Newsletter

February 20, 2023

Greetings, GMS Families -

This warmer, unseasonable weather, has been nice. I hope everyone has been enjoying the long, extended weekend. As a reminder, 8th graders will get GHS 9th grade schedule information tomorrow/Tuesday during SS class. A special email with additional information and resources was sent out earlier today. Also, the track meeting is tomorrow/Tuesday evening too. Track normally involves a lot of students, so I wanted to remind everyone (see below in reminders as well).

As always, please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or positive thoughts to share.

Respectfully,
Lisa Sealover-Ormond
Principal, GMS

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

STUDENT SPONSORED ASSEMBLY this WEDNESDAY during late arrival
My name is Campbell Reding (7th grader) and during late arrival this week (2/22), I plan show a documentary about the state of the biosphere and the environment. This will educate everyone about the biosphere, and what they can do to help. I also have several experts/professionals who will serve as a panel of people to answer questions about the topic. We plan to start around 7:35am (ish). I hope you can attend!

THANKS
A big thank you to everyone who donated items or helped with set-up/tear-down of the staff meal during conferences last Thursday evening. We really, really appreciated it!

GIRL DADS ROX – Experiential Workshop on March 11th
For the #girldads out there looking to better connect with their daughters and strengthen their relationship…ROX and the Ohio Division of Wildlife put together a fun and empowering morning for dads and their daughters, ages 10-14. Girls will get to connect with other girls and talk about what it means to “find their voice” with the guidance of a licensed ROX facilitator. Meanwhile, dads will hear from ROX experts to learn about simple strategies for empowering and communicating with their daughters. Afterward, girls and dads will shoot their shot together in a “safe archery” lesson and target practice with female trainers from the ODNR Division of Wildlife. To learn more and register, click here.

University of Michigan researchers found that more meal time at home can be a strong predictor of academic success and fewer behavioral problems.

SCHOOL CHALLENGE
Our school-wide coin challenge was a big success. We raised $5,900 for Camp Kesem, a camp for children whose parents have cancer. Defelice Bros. donated poizza to the winning class - Mr. Felder's 5th period class. Way to go ACES!
