A Message from the Superintendent: Power Outage May 8, 2024

Dear Blue Ace Families,

We want to inform you about an upcoming power outage affecting our schools. On May 8th at 3:00 pm, American Electric Power (AEP) will disconnect power to Granville High School (GHS), Granville Middle School (GMS), and Granville Intermediate School (GIS) to facilitate the relocation of a utility pole for the roundabout project at the intersection of State Route 661 (Pearl St.) and New Burg St.

Here are the details:
  • Timing and Impact:
    • GMS/GHS: The power outage will occur after dismissal, so regular school hours will not be affected. However, evening events scheduled at GMS/GHS will be canceled.
    • GIS: Granville Intermediate School will experience the outage during the last half-hour of the school day. We will follow our normal dismissal process.
    • Phones will be re-routed to the District Office during the outage.
  • Safety Measures:
    • Our emergency generators will provide basic lighting and functionality.
    • Staff members are aware of safety protocols.
    • If you need to pick up your child early, please coordinate with the front office earlier in the day.
  • Communication:
    • We will keep you updated via email.
    • Please check your email regularly for any additional announcements.
    • In case of emergencies, we will send out notifications promptly.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this construction-related inconvenience.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Your partner in education,

Jeff Brown
Superintendent, Granville Schools
