Granville Schools Names Brian Petrie Director of Human Resources
September 28, 2023

We are pleased to welcome Brian Petrie as the new Granville School District Director of Human Resources. Mr. Petrie was approved during the June 26 Granville Board of Education regular meeting. His official start date was August 1.

Mr. Petrie has nearly 25 years of experience in education, beginning with teaching and most recently as a Superintendent at Cardington-Lincoln Local Schools since 2010. Prior to his time as Superintendent, he was the principal of Cardington-Lincoln Intermediate School for three years. He was in various teaching positions before that. While a Superintendent, some of his accomplishments included: increasing access to mental health and wellness supports for district students through private and community partnerships; leading an increase of the district graduation rate from 81.2% in 2010 to 95.4% in 2019; leading the district to earning school designations as School of Honor (twice), School of Promise (twice), and National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence; securing a Federal Competitive Technology Grant from USDA for Remote Learning for $875,000 for 2021-2024; creating and implementing a district ESC evaluation tool for FY12 and FY20, which led to improved support for staff and students for services and professional development;  and negotiating multiple agreements between the Cardington-Lincoln Board of Education and OAPSE/OEA.

“I am very excited to be a part of the great culture and collaborative team here in Granville,” said Mr. Petrie.

Mr. Petrie has a Bachelor of Arts in French (Summa Cum Laude) from Ohio University. He also earned a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Ohio University. He completed the Accelerated Licensure Program for Building Principals at The Ohio State University in 2006, and the Accelerated Licensure Program for Superintendent at The Ohio State University in 2010. He is a recipient of the Mary L. Durnion Scholarship, a member of Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society, an honorary member of the Cardington-Lincoln Alumni Association 2020, and received the Key to Success Award from the Delaware Morrow Mental Health and Recovery Services Board in 2020.

“With Brian coming from an administrative role, he has a unique perspective to bring to our Human Resources department,” said Superintendent Jeff Brown. “He has already proven to be a great addition to the team.”

Mr. Petrie resides in Apple Valley with his wife Caitlin, his daughter Charlotte, and his son Owen.
