SCHOOL SPORTS & CLUBS
 
CONGRATS TO KEVIN GU
At the recent MathCounts State competition, Kevin Gu finished in the top 25% out of over 160 students. Kevin competed in the sprint and target rounds.
 
ARCHERY RESULTS
The Granville Archery Teams did a great job at the Ohio State Archery Tournament two weekends ago.
The MS team scored a 3198 finishing 3rd out of 30 teams and had 127 tens
Barrett Waggoner with a 284 - 18 tens earned 5th place out of 357 MS males
Frannie Dodd with a 281 - 14 tens earned 4th place out of 372 MS females
Both the GIS and MS teams advance to Nationals in Louisville, KY in May.
 
SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
The Granville Middle School Science Olympiad team recently competed in the BirdSO Invitational. 153 teams from 28 states competed, and Granville finished in 7th place!
Medal winners were:
  • Jack Hann and Callum Sproul-6th in Can’t Judge a Powder
  • Yingling Yang and Chyler Katona-4th in Fast Facts
  • Norah Mitton-Fry and Olivia Katona-5th in Meteorology
  • Kevin Gu and Abbie Graham-6th in Road Scholar
  • Jack Hann and Callum Sproul-4th in Roller Coaster
  • Olivia Katona and Harrison McKinney-8th in Sounds of Music
  • Callum Sproul and Jack Hann-9th in Wheeled Vehicle
  • CJ Hansen and Hayden Barker-4th in Storm the Castle
 
CURRENT 8th GRADE GIRLS - GHS VOLLEYBALL
Coach Ruppert would like to meet with like to meet briefly Friday, March 24th at 3pm in the GHS Senior Lounge about spring open gyms, summer workouts, tournaments and camp schedule, and also introduce you to the coaching staff for next season. This will be for all incoming 9th-12th graders.
 
CURRENT 7th GRADE GIRLS - GOLF
If you are interested in playing for the girls’ middle school golf team next year, please join Coach Ashley Franks and current players for an informational meeting on Thursday, April 27th during lunch time at 10:55 am. We will discuss what the season will look like and will talk through any questions you may have! If you are interested, please fill out the below google form to provide some information about you and how you became interested in golf! Please note filling out the form is not a commitment to play on the team but is a helpful tool for the team’s coaches to see who is interested ahead of time!

REMINDER - 9th GRADE BOYS SOCCER MEETING
Rising 9th grade boys soccer players and parents are all welcome an informational meeting on Tuesday, March 21 at 7:00pm in the GMS project center.

8th GRADE EXIT SURVEY
Each year we ask students in grades 3, 6, 8, and 12 to reflect on their overall experiences in their respective buildings in the form of a brief survey. The GMS 8th gr survey will be completed during the week of April 11. The information will allow building and district leaders to also reflect on the student experiences at each building and respond accordingly. A list of survey questions can be found here.  
 
FOURTH - FINAL QTR
ALL current 7th and 8th graders - if you plan to participate in school fall sports (2023), the 4th qtr we are in right now, determines your eligibility.
 
FEE NOTICES
We recently sent out fee notices, via email, if your child's fees have an outstanding balance. Let us know if you have questions.

PLANNING AHEAD for STATE TESTING
For planning purposes (dr apts, etc.), here is the GMS state testing schedule:
March 28-29: ELA 7 and 8 state testing
April 18-19: Math 7, Math 8, Pre-Alg, Alg, and Geo state testing
April 25-26: Science 8 and Bio state testing
Testing takes place the first two hrs of school on each day listed above.
