Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, February 16th, from 3:15 - 8:45 pm. Below is a link you can use to sign up for a conference with your child's teacher. Please contact Lori Browning, principal secretary, if you have any issues with scheduling at [email protected].

2023-2024 11th and 12th Grade Scheduling

Scheduling season has begun for the 2023-2024 school year for upcoming 11th and 12th grade students. This past week, current 10th and 11th grade students were presented with information both in the theater and in their social studies class. The videos below were shown to your child this past week and can help you understand and navigate your child's schedule for next school year. Videos for upcoming 9th and 10th grade students will be shared next week after we conduct our initial scheduling meeting with the students.

Little Women--- This Weekend!
 
This winter, Granville High School Theatre will present Little Women! This play was adapted by Thomas Hischak and is based on the novel of the same name by Louisa May Alcott. Set in New England in the 1860s this play spans years over the course of the play. The audience can watch as Josephine March narrates stories of her life with her sisters as they grow together, developing relationships, and experience heartbreak all while becoming a beautiful family of unique and powerful women.
 
Our production of Little Women will be directed by Sara Wiper Rodocker and Stefanie Stanton with technical direction from Tim Stanton and assistant technical director Arrow Havill. Kate Miller is the production stage manager with assistant stage management by Ella Holtsberry and Izzy Krieg. The student directors are Abby Bergstrom John Coffey. Our leading women will be Juniper George as Jo March, Audrey Stankunas as Meg March, Lilly Rees as Beth March, Lexi Vaile as Amy March and Lucy Waggoner as Josephine March later in life. Sebastian Barth stars as Theodore Laurence.

GHS Winter Formal

GHS Student Council will be holding the 2023 Winter Formal on Saturday, February 25th from 7-10 pm at GHS. The dance will be held in The Commons. If a student wishes to bring a guest from another school you must complete this form: Winter Formal Guest Form

Please submit your graduating senior's name for their diploma by Friday, February 24, 2023. This is their name as it will appear on their diploma. First, Middle and Last name.

Counselor Update

CTEC- Day of Exploration
Due to the snow day, C-TEC has rescheduled their Day of Exploration open house, which will now be on February 15. Students and their parents/guardians have the opportunity to meet with lab instructors, tour the building, talk to school counselors, and fill-out an application on site. Students will choose a time slot between 8:30 am - 7 pm, and must register through this link. Sophomores interested in applying should complete their online application to C-Tec by February 15.
 
College Credit Plus Information
Is your student interested in taking college courses for dual credit while in high school? Click here to watch a presentation from the school counselors along with representatives from local colleges, talking about the program and next steps to take if interested. All students interested in CCP must complete an Intent to Participate form by April 1, 2023.
 
Scheduling Questions for 2023-2024
School Counselors have begun meeting with classes to talk about scheduling options for next year. Students will receive scheduling forms and must get teacher signatures for all core course selections prior to their scheduling dates (see below). If your child still has questions after receiving feedback from current teachers, they are welcome to sign up for a scheduling conference time with their school counselor. Click below for the school counselors’ sign up links (please email if you want a Zoom link option!):

Parent Book Study Opportunity
Granville Schools is offering a book study for parents of current K-12 students. We will be reading and discussing How to Raise an Adult by Julie Lythcott-Haims. The kickoff session will be held March 6 at 6:30 PM at Granville Elementary School. Participants will meet regularly in cohorts to discuss sections of the book. Click here to register. 
 
Raising Confident, Competent Children is a Triple P seminar that helps lower the stress of parenting by equipping parents to: Encourage confidence in their children; Help their children reach their own potential; Enable their children to get along well with others. This FREE online seminar is February 21 from 6:30 to 8:30.
