End of School Year Message from Superintendent Brown

Dear Blue Ace Families,

Another school year has come to an end, and we soon will be closing up classrooms for the Summer. I want to share some things in celebration and acknowledgement of these last few weeks of the year.

Let me begin by saying congratulations to the Class of 2022! Commencement was wonderful event, and as usual, our graduates are an impressive group. Please see a brief graphic overview of their accomplishments below.

For the rest of our district’s students, the last nine weeks of school was a time to finish strong. In addition to their everyday classroom success, our students have achieved great academic success outside of school. Our High School Envirathon team won the Area 3 competition and qualified to compete in the State competition next month. Our Middle School Science Olympiad team competed in the State Tournament and earned 4th Place, and four pairs of students were also event State Champions in four of the individual events! Our Intermediate School’s Lego Robotics team won the Explore and Design Award at Wright Patterson Air Force Base’s Virtual Robotics competition. These are just a sample of the work our students are doing! I am always very proud of our students’ academic achievements, but I am even more proud of how they give back to our community – with fundraisers, food and clothing drives, humanitarian relief and service projects, dedication of time and talent to many causes, etc.

Our Drama and Arts programs have thrived this Spring: the GHS choir groups and bands made their mark at the Ohio Music Education Association’s (OMEA) state competition, with the Tenor-Bass Choir, Treble Choir, Symphonic Choir, Concert Band and Symphonic Band all earning Superior ratings; the 7th and 8th grade orchestras receiving the highest rating at the OMEA’s Large Group Contest this month; our GHS Theatre Department performed Rodgers & Hammerstein’s musical, Cinderella, which entertained young and old alike; drum group, Blue Steel, competed in the Capital Steel Drum Festival and placed Runner Up to the Grand Champion; our artists have displayed their work at several shows; and we even have a published poet!

Congratulations are due to our athletic successes so far this Spring, including: the Girls Varsity Track & Field team being LCL Champions and winning the District Championship; the Girls Varsity Lacrosse team having the most season wins in program history (13) and advancing to the Regional Semi-Final for the first time in school history; and the Varsity Baseball team being District Runner Up. Our Granville Middle School Track & Field teams also had a great showing at the LCL Meet, with the Girls being League Champions and the Boys taking 3rd Place.

Lastly, thank you for your unwavering support of our GEVS students, staff members and programs throughout the 2021-2022 school year. Have a great Summer and we will see you back in the Fall!

Your partner in education,

Jeff Brown
