As part of the health service program, the following screening programs are administered to students to aid in the identification of disabilities, especially those that might interfere with learning:
- Growth and development evaluation: grades K-3-5
- Vision screening: as directed by the Ohio Department of Health; currently that includes grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 all students new to the district, and students referred for an individual educational plan (IEP).
- Audiometric (hearing) testing: as directed by the Ohio Department of Health; currently that includes grades K, 1, 3, 5, 9,11 all students new to the district, and students referred for an individual educational plan (IEP).
- Postural Screening: grade 5 (girls), grade 7 (girls) and grade 8 (boys) if parents opt in for this screening
Parents are notified of the need for further professional evaluation if a second screening identifies abnormal results. If a parent suspects their child has a problem with vision or hearing, please contact the nurse for an individual screening.
