Kindergarten

When does Kindergarten Registration begin for 2026-2027 and how do I register my child? Registration begins on February 24, 2026, and can only be completed online using PowerSchool Enrollment Express. The actual enrollment process is very similar to any new student entering Granville Schools even if the family already has a child in Granville Schools. PLEASE NOTE: If you begin the registration process prior to February 24, 2026 for your kindergarten student, that registration will be deleted and you will need to start it again on February 24.
What is the age requirement for registering for kindergarten? A recent change in Ohio legislation requires that all students entering kindergarten must be age 5 on or before the first day of school. Any kindergarten students registering for the 2026-2027 must be 5 years old on or before August 19, 2026. You can read additional information about the change here. Please reach out directly to Granville Elementary School if you have any questions.
Do I need to come to a building as part of registration? No; however, you must upload certain items and documents in Enrollment Express.
What information do I need to complete to be “fully registered?” Registration information can be found on our Enrollment page.
How will full-day placement be decided? Placement in full day for the 2026-2027 school year will be determined through a lottery. Any registration for full day completed by 11:59 PM on March 10 will be included in the lottery. Children registered for full day after March 10, or who did not get placed in the lottery process, will be added to the waitlist.
How will students be chosen from the waitlist if additional full day spots are open? An additional lottery will be completed as new spots are available.
What if my child’s annual check-up/physical will occur after March 10? Will my child still be fully registered if I don’t have a physical form to attach? Yes, we understand that your child’s annual check-up/physical will occur based on their birth date. This is the only document that can be submitted later. You will need to submit your student’s most current vaccination record prior to the March 10 date for full day consideration. Here is a link to the physician's physical form for your convenience.
What if I have questions while completing registration? All questions regarding registration should be directed to Kelli Small at ksmall@granvilleschools.org.
What is the cost for full-day kindergarten? Full-day includes a $400 per month tuition. The deposit is due at the time of screening (see below) and will cover tuition for August and September.
When will I be notified if my child is in full-kindergarten? Families will be notified of placement in full day by March 20. This notification will come through email.
How will I know if my child is AM or PM half day? Several variables, including transportation, determine AM or PM placement. Families will be notified of placement by the end of June.
When is kindergarten screening? Screening will be held on June 3 and June 4 at Granville Elementary School. Please sign up for a screening appointment. At this time, there is no online option for kindergarten screening.
What if we cannot attend the June screening dates? Typically, a second option for a screening in August is provided. If you are unavailable in June, please email Principal Travis Morris (tmorris@granvilleschools.org).
Is screening required for entrance to kindergarten? No. The purpose of screening is to provide teachers with baseline information about your child’s skills, personality, and development.
How do I stay informed as information is released and shared? The best way to stay informed is sign up for the GES Family Newsletter. Information is also shared on school social media sites. Be certain the email address in PowerSchool is one that is checked regularly.
Where can I find more information about kindergarten or touring the building? Want to learn more about kindergarten at Granville Elementary School? Please watch this brief video. Guided tours of the building are not currently occurring; however, we are planning to provide a self-guided opportunity at screening and/ or prior to the start of the school year.
What if I have questions that are specific to kindergarten and not just registration? Questions about kindergarten or school operations can be directed to our school secretary at gessecretary@granvilleschools.org.
Where can I find additional resources to help my child get ready for Kindergarten? Journeyto5.org in Licking County is a newly formed, county-wide initiative dedicated to increasing the number of children prepared to succeed in Kindergarten. On their website, you can find educational materials and many age-specific resources to help children succeed in Kindergarten and beyond.
