Health Screenings
As part of the health service program, the following screening programs are administered to students to aid in the identification of disabilities, especially those that might interfere with learning:
- Growth and development evaluation: grades K-3-5
- Vision screening: as directed by the Ohio Department of Health; currently that includes grades K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 all students new to the district, and students referred for an individual educational plan (IEP).
- Audiometric (hearing) testing: as directed by the Ohio Department of Health; currently that includes grades K, 1, 3, 5, 9,11 all students new to the district, and students referred for an individual educational plan (IEP).
- Postural Screening: grade 5 (girls), grade 7 (girls) and grade 8 (boys) if parents opt in for this screening
Parents are notified of the need for further professional evaluation if a second screening identifies abnormal results. If a parent suspects their child has a problem with vision or hearing, please contact the nurse for an individual screening.
