Granville Athletics Mental Performance Initiative (GAMPI)

In 2022, the Granville High School Athletic Department created Granville Athletics Mental Performance Initiative (GAMPI), a groundbreaking program designed to strengthen the mental health, resilience, and performance of student-athletes. Developed in partnership with Ohio State University’s LiFEsports program, GAMPI reflects Granville’s commitment to preparing students for success both on and off the field.

The initiative provides athletes with structured workshops, trainings, and guest speaker events that focus on confidence, motivation, stress management, and balancing academics with athletics. A highlight of the program included a presentation by former Ohio State Buckeye football player Harry Miller, who shared his personal journey with mental health and emphasized the importance of open conversations around wellness.

By normalizing discussions about mental health in athletics, GAMPI equips student-athletes with practical tools to manage pressure, build resilience, and develop life skills that extend beyond sports. The program is part of Granville Athletics’ broader philosophy known as “The Standard,” which prioritizes the holistic growth of student-athletes—helping them thrive not only in competition but also in life.

Granville Athletics is proud to lead the way in integrating mental performance into athletic training, ensuring that student-athletes are supported physically, mentally, and emotionally.
