On September 15, 2025, the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) released its Report Card for the 2024-2025 school year, and we are proud to share that Granville Exempted Village School District earned a 5-star overall rating! The 5-Star rating is a combination of the following: 5 stars in Achievement, Gap Closing, and Graduation; and 4 stars in Progress, Early Literacy and College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness. The district’s Performance Indicator score – the measure that represents all student scores on state tests – was 106.4, which ranks Granville Schools as first in Licking County, first in Central Ohio, and in the top 25 in the state!

More detail on what these scores mean:

  • Achievement – A 5-star rating means that Granville Schools “significantly exceeds state standards in academic achievement.”
  • Gap Closing – A 5-star rating means that Granville Schools “significantly exceeds state standards in closing educational gaps and shows improvement in student attendance.”
  • Graduation Rate – A 5-star rating means that Granville Schools “significantly exceeds state standards in graduation rates.”
  • Progress – A 4-star rating means that there is “significant evidence the district exceeded student growth expectations.”
  • Early Literacy – A 4-star rating means that Granville Schools “exceeds state standards in early literacy.”
  • College, Career, Workforce, and Military Readiness – A 4-star rating means that Granville Schools “exceeds state standards in post-secondary readiness rates.”

These ratings are just further evidence of the remarkable things our students, staff, and parents are doing every day. And while they do meet our expectations, they do not influence our perception of student performance. Our focus is on the Portrait of a Graduate competencies and intentionally developing agency and autonomy in our students. We are encouraging our students to be explorers, driven by internal curiosity rather than external expectations; to learn for life AND enjoy the process, so they can discover what the world has to offer and make it a better place.
