Meet our School Counselor
Mrs.
Thatcher is in her 5th year as an elementary school counselor. In addition, she has 7 years of elementary school teaching experience. She has a Master of Science Degree in School Counseling from the University of Dayton, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Ohio University.
Student Services
Small group counseling on varied topics, including the following:
- New student lunch group
- Social skills/ friendship lunch group
- Banana Splits lunch groups for students with divorced/separated parents
- Positive thinking lunch groups
- Kindergarten social skills groups
- Third Grade girls book club lunch group
Peer mediation and conflict resolution
Individual social, emotional, academic support
Monthly classroom lessons including “Too Good for Drugs” curriculum K-3
Goal setting and problem solving
Collaborate with staff regarding student support services
Observations for student support
Tailor services to needs of the student
Self-advocate support
Stress and anger support
Ace Day Assemblies Coordinator

Parent consultation about specific student questions or concerns

Resource referrals: academic, community, and mental health resources
Testing support, analysis, and interpretation
Referral Services
School Counselors
consult with parents, guardians, colleagues, and community agencies regarding
strategies to help students and families. School Counselors serve as student
advocates. Referral sources are used to address social, emotional, and academic
concerns.
