Welcome New Granville Schools Staff

Granville Schools starts the year with new staff members throughout the district, in addition to staff who are working in new roles for the 2015-16 school year. Learn more about this talented group.

Granville Intermediate School
Annette Losco, Assistant Principal GES/GIS
Annette Losco serves as Assistant Principal at both Granville Elementary and Intermediate Schools. She comes to Granville from New Lexington Middle School and said she is looking forward to being part of a positive school climate.

Annette enjoys watching her children participate in their activities, as well as reading and cooking.

“I’m inspired by observing people who overcome great odds to do something special, and seeing people helping others for no personal gain,” Annette said.

Beth Downing, Technology Coach
Beth Downing is the Technology Aide at GIS. She is eager to join the Granville Schools community and looks forward to utilizing her skills to support teachers and students with technology integration. She previously worked at Columbus Academy in the primary grades as a classroom teacher, where she utilized tablet applications and web tools to differentiate instruction and engage the students.

“My main hobby is spending time with family and friends. I have three sons and enjoy going for walks, biking, reading and playing with our dog!” Beth said.

She is inspired when trying something new and then becoming comfortable with it, and also likes to inspire students to try new things.

Megan Strucke, Orchestra
Megan Strucke is teaching Orchestra part time at GIS.

“I’m looking forward to being a part of this excellent orchestra program and getting to know the students and teachers of this district,” she said. Megan also works part time in Worthington Schools as an orchestra director.

Away from school, she enjoys reading, swimming, biking and hiking – and especially spending time with her two little girls!

Megan said she is inspired by amazing professionals, musicians and teachers who work so hard at what they do. They do not give up and their dedication is reflected in their amazing performances.

Katie (Kathrine) VanSickle, Intervention Specialist
Katie VanSickle is an Intervention Specialist at GIS. Formerly with New Lexington City Schools, she is looking forward to working in a team to help students reach their potential.

Katie’s interests include heavy bag boxing, camping, backpacking and kayaking.

“Other people achieving inspires me to do more,” she said.

Granville Elementary School

Demaris Rosato, First Grade Teacher
Demaris Rosato is teaching first grade at GES and comes to Granville from Licking Heights Local Schools.

“I am not only looking forward to working with wonderful students, but also having the time to collaborate with my colleagues,” she said.

Demaris enjoys reading, shopping, spending time at the beach, and she and her husband work together on the year of their Granville home. She finds inspiration in people who work hard but don’t take any of the credit while giving back to everyone.

Erin Bade, Kindergarten Teacher & TESOL
Erin Bade teaches kindergarten part-time at GES and previously worked at Worthington City Schools. She looks forward to working closely with students and their families, and helping students achieve academic and social growth. Also, collaborating with fellow teachers to grow as an educator.

Erin enjoys reading, watching movies and spending time with family and friends.

“I’m inspired by children’s’ energy, resilience and excitement for learning,” she said. “I am also inspired by other dedicated teachers.”

Granville Middle School

Kyle Bergeron, Math
Kyle Bergeron is teaching math at GHS and comes to Granville from Reynoldsburg City Schools, where he was a high school math teacher and junior high wrestling coach.

He is most looking forward to meeting his new students and guiding them through fun, meaningful learning experiences. Kyle said he loves playing golf and if anyone wants to play, just let him know.

“The moments that inspire me most are when past students contact me to share how great they are doing and how I had an impact,” he said.

Eliza Kroger, Physical Education
Eliza Kroger is teaching physical education this year at GMS and previously worked at Upper Arlington City Schools. She enjoys playing softball and other outdoor activities.

Granville High School

Bailey Braaten, Math
Bailey Braaten is teaching math at GHS. She looks forward to providing students with the skills they need to be life-long learners and to be successful in all their future endeavors.

Bailey taught AP Calculus AB, Algebra I and Algebra II at Normandy High School in Parma, Ohio, for the past three years. She is also pursuing a PhD in STEM education at the Ohio State University. Her hobbies include reading, running, singing, hiking, learning how to golf and playing guitar.

“I am inspired by the members of my family who are educators and who give me unwavering support and encouragement,” Bailey said, adding, “I have been inspired by many of my former teachers and educators who contributed to and cultivated my life-long love of learning and passion for education.”

Bryan McLain, Science
Bryan McLain teaches science at GHS. With a goal of getting students to take a critical and creative mindset into all areas of their lives, he looks forward to helping them deeply investigate their laboratory activities and use a scientific mind to solve problems by using methods like modeling, inquiry and solid practice.

Before coming to Granville, Bryan worked in industry as a chemist doing ethanol reclamation, and moved onto teaching after being a substitute teacher with Medina City Schools. After receiving a Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction, he worked in Westerville City Schools as a chemistry and biology teacher at Westerville South High School.

His interests include science fiction books and films, board games, tabletop games and video games. Bryan also enjoys both classical music and classic rock.

“I’m inspired by the pursuit of knowledge and understanding,” Bryan said.” I really focus in my own life to be a lover of knowledge and wisdom, and try to imbue that into my students – so they see school as a lifelong pursuit.”

Mara Hoover, Science
Mara Hoover teaches science at GHS and is looking forward to inspiring students to excel in science, and to collaborating with new colleagues. She previously worked at Hilliard Davidson High School for six years where she taught physical science, chemistry, honors chemistry, forensics and marine freshwater ecology.

Mara enjoys yoga, reading, researching information and especially spending time with her family.

“I am inspired by the hope to instill a passion for science in the students I interact with,” Mara said.

Dianne McDonald, Science
Dianne McDonald is teaching science at GHS and looks forward to teaching students in this community.

Previously, she was a teacher at New Albany High School. Dianne started her career at Dublin Coffman High School, then stayed home with her children for four years.

“When I am not working and spending time with my family, I can be found trail running, hiking, biking, swimming or CrossFit training,” Dianne said.

Rodney Fields, Industrial Technology
Rodney Fields teaches industrial technology at GHS. He looks forward to getting back to engaging and insightful conversations with students.

Before coming to Granville Schools, he taught at C-TEC of Licking County. His interests include golf, hunting, woodworking/building and anything outdoors.

“I’m inspired by the content I teach and the ‘ah-ha’ moment of solving a problem!” Rodney said.

District

Chad Timmons, School Psychologist
Chad Timmons is a school psychologist for Granville Schools Student Services.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to practice as a school psychologist in a district with a smaller student population,” he said. “Coming from a district with nearly 11,000 students and 16 different schools, I am grateful to be given the opportunity to work for a smaller, well-respected, high-performing district.”

Chad has been practicing as a school psychologist for 10 years in the Pickerington Local School District. He enjoys long-distance running, watching sports and participating in outdoor activities of all sorts, as well as spending time with his wife and two daughters.

He said he is inspired by individuals who excel despite significant obstacles in their lives. “Working within the field of special education affords me the opportunity to work with individuals and colleagues who share this love of helping others succeed,” Chad said.

Evan McCullough, Technology Application Coordinator
Evan McCullough works as the district’s technology application coordinator. He is looking forward to working with teachers to develop effective, innovative technology solutions that will improve the quality of classroom instruction.

Evan came to Granville from Zanesville City Schools, where he was a computer science teacher. His interests include exercising, programming, camping/hiking, traveling and playing with his five cats.

“For me, inspiration can be found almost anywhere, but the place that I feel most uplifted is when I am out in nature,” Evan said. “Whether it is finding a quiet beach in Maine or a breathtaking view from the Great Sand Dunes in Colorado, my most inspiring moments have come from the natural beauty of the world.”

Bus Drivers

Burt Hafkin, Bus Driver

Bus Driver Burt Hafkin is looking forward to knowing each student on his route so he can make a positive contribution to his or her school experience. He also wants each ride to be safe and pleasant.

During the past seven years, Burt drove buses for Northridge Local Schools and before that served several non-profit organizations as controller or finance manager. He enjoys playing acoustic guitars, mostly in the folk genre, and working in his wife’s vegetable garden.

“I’m inspired by people who help others without seeking credit,” Burt said. “I’m also inspired by those who enjoy teaching and are good at it.”

Brad Hoffer, Bus Driver

Virginia McAnally, Bus Driver
Bus Driver Virginia McAnally looks forward to getting students to school safely. “It brings a smile to my face when I see my students in the morning, and again after school,” she said.

Virginia previously worked for Clear Creek ISD, in League City, Texas. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and traveling with her family.

“My inspiration comes from my father,” Virginia said. “He was a very hard-working man who taught me the value of work. He was also able to show me that work can be enjoyable.”
