Ian Lancaster Wins District Spelling Bee

The district crowned the 2017 spelling bee champion on Jan. 11. After 12 rounds, GIS fifth-grade student Ian Lancaster topped fourth-grader Ethan Spencer.

Ethan spelled some very difficult words on his way to runner-up. Kyle whisked through pugnacious, moiety, pertinacity and phosphine to win the bee. He will go on to represent our district later this month in an online state bee in hopes of qualifying for the oral state competition in March.

The Language Arts Department congratulates all students who competed in the spelling bee on a job well done! Good luck to Ian as he moves forward in the competition.
